In 2018, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, initiated the concept of establishing the Andaman International Health Center (AIHC) to enhance healthcare services for people in the Andaman region. The aim was to improve opportunities for equitable access to quality healthcare, while also supporting the development of health tourism that elevates the Andaman region to international standards.

This initiative received approval from the University Council of Prince of Songkla University on January 12, 2019, and was incorporated into the university’s strategic plan (2018–2022). From this, the Songklanagarind Digital Dental Center Phuket (SDDC Phuket) was established.

Located within the AIHC, the Songklanagarind Digital Dental Center Phuket under the Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University, was founded to be a learning and service hub in advanced dental technology. Its purpose is to develop and integrate innovations in collaboration with dental clinics and local partners, raising the standard of oral healthcare in the Andaman region to an international level.

The center also serves as a platform for academic services, professional training, and local business partnerships, while providing high-quality dental services to the public. Ultimately, it aims to drive the Andaman region toward becoming a leading medical and health tourism hub, contributing to sustainable social and economic development.
